Reader, It's begun. Retrenchment talks. Even though the company I work at has announced 'restructuring' after the acquisition, up to this point, this was only happening at the global and regional level, and the top folks in our country. Last week, the first trickle has landed in country. As someone in HR, conducting these conversations is the part of my job I hate most. Watching people cry. Seeing the shock, anger, and helplessness wash over their faces. Knowing that in an instant, their sense of security just shattered. It's also why I recorded this week's podcast episode. Because here's what I want every single person to understand: Your job is not your worth. I know this intimately. Years ago, I quit a job without a backup plan. When I tried to retract my resignation, they said no. The rejection felt personal, crushing. As the sole provider with no savings, panic set in fast. But that moment of terror also sparked something deeper - a resolve to never again depend on a single income for my family's wellbeing. It reignited the business dreams I'd had since my 20s but buried under the busy-ness of life, raising kids, and just surviving. Now, as I sit across from employees whose worlds are crumbling, I'm more committed than ever to helping women break free from financial fear. This week's podcast: 'When Your Job Isn't Your Worth' - I share the raw truth of my own career crisis and the strategic moves that turned my biggest breakdown into my breakthrough. Reader, Yesterday I had the 'perfect"'schedule planned for my side business: 4:30am - Morning routine (yoga, meditation, journaling 12:00pm - Lunch power hour on LinkedIn 9:30pm - Early bedtime to do it all again Then I found out my son needed surgery - not life-threatening, but last-minute to remove an abscess that was causing him pain. The doctor's travel schedule meant it had to happen immediately. My morning routine became hospital parking and insurance forms. My 'power hour' became...
Reader, Can I be honest with you about something? I used to wait for the 'perfect moment' to make career moves. When the kids were older. When I had more savings. When I felt 100% confident I could pull it off. Here's what I learned: That moment never comes. The career you want? The one that gives you fulfilling work, time flexibility, and financial freedom? It starts with believing you can figure it out as you go. Today I'm sharing the 3-step method I use to build that belief - even when I'm...
I spent the last 2 weeks interviewing 12 working moms - senior leaders, middle managers, high achievers who've made it "up the ladder." One theme emerged so consistently it surprised me: Every single one valued time with family over traditional career advancement. Unfortunately with traditional 9-5 jobs, choices are limited to 2 options: Keep climbing the ladder and sacrifice family time Accept smaller roles with fewer financial opportunities But there is a strategic third option. HERE'S MY...
