What are you doing with your one wild and precious life?

Reader,

Work expands to fill the time you give it.

That's Parkinson's Law.

This past week, I tried giving myself 10 minutes to write my daily LinkedIn post in the mornings.

It worked.

It might be stressful to some, but it energized me, as I watched the timer counting down while I typed away.

10 minutes isn't a magic number - there's no research behind it.

It's just what I could fit into an already early start at 4.30am after my morning routine.

So now, my morning routine looks like this before I head out the door to get the kids to school and me to the office:

  • working out
  • meditating
  • intention journaling
  • writing a LinkedIn post

It enables me to start my day right and get the most important stuff done before most people are even up.

It also reprogrammed my mind to believe I can get the work done in the time I allocate it.

And if I really don't, I still have my lunch hour to complete it.

But I don't like to even think this way - subconsciously I know it leads to procrastination if I tell myself I have more time later.

I get into the exact process I use to make that 10 minutes work in this week's podcast.

P.S. I'm curious - do you enjoy these short 10-minute podcasts or prefer the longer ones I used to do in the past? Hit reply and let me know!

P.P.S. I love the poem, 'The Summer Day' by Mary Oliver - credits to her for my subject line!
